Here is how a stolen trailer usually ends: it does not. The box is gone from the drop yard Friday night, reported Monday morning, and by then the load has been cross-docked, the trailer repainted or cut for parts, and the police file is one page long. Recovery rates for unequipped trailers are dismal because there is nothing to recover with — no witness, no plate reader hit that means anything, no trail.
