Ask a fleet manager why a driver turned down a good lane and somewhere down the list you will find the dog. Pet policy is one of the quietest retention levers in trucking — carriers that allow dogs hold drivers longer, and drivers who run with a dog report the loneliness of the job differently than drivers who do not.
